This blog and subsequent ones will help you get some knowledge on this beautiful form of art and make it easier to decide which one will be great for you.
First, what is beading?
Beading is an art of putting together beads or attaching them to one another usually by adding thread to make jewellery or other forms of craft. Beading can be done in various forms. Some basic ones are;
- Bead Stringing
- Bead Weaving
- Bead Looming
- Bead Embroidery
- Wire Wrapping With Beads
- Bead Braiding
Bead stringing is simply passing thread through beads to form a unit item. Bead stringing can be used for jewellery like bracelets, necklaces and anklets. The picture below is a bracelet made by the bead stringing method.

Bead weaving is a form of beadwork done by passing thread through beads in alternating patterns to form intricate designs. Some popular examples of bead weaving are the peyote stitch and right angle stitch.

Bead looming can be another a form of bead weaving but it requires the use of a device called a bead loom. It is also relatively faster.

Bead embroidery as the name suggests is a merge of embroidery and beading. In this form of bead work, the beads are stitched onto fabric to serve a decorative purpose.
